This dress gives a new meaning to Old, New, Borrowed and Blue!
I initially saw my wedding gown featured in a Bride Magazine. It was love at first sight and I knew this would be the ONE AND ONLY dress for me, no matter the price tag.
This Reem Acra wedding gown was part of a haute couture bridal collection and I immediately fell in love with the ethereal pale blue satin. I had never seen a dress like this one before or since.
I bought this dress at the famous New York wedding dress boutique, Kleinfeld’s, during a Reem Acra Trunk show. Since this was a special order (the dress was originally designed with black embroidery and I wanted something more subdued) it took a year from the order till it came in to the shop.
The dress is made from the rich duchesse silk satin Reem Acra is known for. I believe she has trademarked this material which is label-exclusive. The dress is embellished with very intricate, hand-sown embroidery with Swarovski crystals, pearl beading,and blue and silver threading. The embroidery is a tone on tone blue, which compliments the color of the rich satin.
The front center hemline, arms and back are graced with the same intricate crystal pattern as the bodice. The bottom is a full ball gown with a stunning train and is breathtaking when bustled (no worries when dancing, walking, pictures, etc.). The alterations were done by the skilled tailors at Kleinfeld’s. I wore this dress once, for the duration of the wedding. It is in good condition and was professionally cleaned and preserved. To get these photos to post, I had to take it out of the box, but that’s where it has been all this time. There is one mark on the dress, and I have photographed it (it is enlarged in this photo -honestly, you would not notice it).
Dress would fit a size 14 girl as that was my size at the time i wore this dress...I am approx 5'8" and wore 2"heels with the dress.
